PDF redaction with Z-Mask

Find and mask personal data in PDFs and scanned documents. Review detected fields, download the redacted PDF and start with 3 free page credits.

Redact a document

From an uploaded PDF to a reviewed result

Upload a PDF in the Z-Mask workspace. Document analysis uses OCR and personal data detection to identify candidate fields for redaction. PNG and JPEG inputs are also supported.

Inspect the document preview and detected fields before approving the result. Adjust the redaction boxes where necessary, then download the masked output. Automated detection can miss information or flag harmless text: review every page before sharing it.

When to use document redaction

Teams can prepare contracts, correspondence and case documents for external review by removing personal details that the recipient does not need. Use synthetic or approved sample documents to evaluate detection before processing a sensitive collection.

For scanned documents, legibility, rotation and image quality affect OCR results. A visually black box alone is not proof that sensitive content has been removed. Check the downloaded file, including selectable text, before releasing it.

Page credits, not a flat charge per PDF

The Free plan includes 3 page credits. Each processed PDF page uses one credit; each image counts as one page. A 3-page PDF therefore uses all 3 free credits. Reviewing the same document does not use additional page credits.

Basic is EUR 9 per user per month with 500 pages per month. Pro is EUR 45 per user per month with 2,500 pages per month. See the pricing section for plan details and limits.

Original and redacted document history

For newly archived PDF jobs, Processing history lets the account owner review the original and masked documents together. Copies are encrypted before archival storage and access is checked on the server. Authorized administrators can also access records for administration.

Older jobs may not have archived copies. Original image uploads are not currently included in PDF archival. Read the Privacy Policy for retention details, and contact us before uploading data with specific residency or deletion requirements.
